GENERAL CONDITION

Guidance on Receiving and Handling Fabric-Wrapped Products Receiving and handling fabric-wrapped products require careful attention to ensure their integrity and performance are maintained throughout transit and installation. Here are some guidelines to follow:

  1. Packaging Variation: Packaging methods may differ based on the specific order, distance from the factory, and site conditions. Be prepared to handle and dispose of various packaging materials such as cardboard boxes, wooden pallets, crates, strapping, wrapping, and fill materials.
  2. Recommended Tools: Have necessary tools ready, including a screw gun with a #2 Phillips bit, wire snips, a utility knife (taking care not to damage products), work gloves, and eye protection.
  3. Storage: If storing products before installation, leave them in their original packaging. Refer to the product warranty for environmental requirements. Environmental data (temperature and humidity readings) during storage is mandatory for warranty validity.
  4. Unpacking Care: Take care when unpacking panels to avoid damage. Containers should be fully opened without obstruction for easy access.
  5. Panel Handling: Handle panels gently and avoid pushing or pulling hard. Keep panels face-to-face/back-to-back to prevent debris from getting on fabric faces or sides.
  6. Stacking: Do not stack panels differently than they arrived, and avoid leaning them at an angle against walls. Keep panels flat until installation.
  7. Acclimation: Cover panels with a light plastic drop cloth to protect from dust and allow them to acclimate to the site environment for 72 hours before installation.
  8. Fabric Quality: Fabric-wrapped panels are not held to furniture trade upholstery standards. Trim any frayed fabric threads before installation and re-adhere fabric if nece
  9. Installation Caution: Panels may have soft cores or perforated components behind fabric. Avoid overly gripping, clamping, pushing, or pulling to prevent damage.
  10. Follow Instructions: Follow mounting instructions provided by Malvicino Design Group®. Use standard carpentry tools and techniques for proper panel alignment and hardware placement during installation.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure the safe and effective handling and installation of fabric-wrapped acoustic panels. For detailed information, refer to the Malvicino Design Group® warranty document.

Acceptable Fabrics Fact Sheet
Application Method: Malvicino Design Group® fabric finishes are stretched and applied over the face of a wood frame, then bonded & stapled to the edges and returned and bonded a minimum of 1" (25 mm) onto the back side of the panel to minimize telegraphing of core irregularities. Acceptability Issues:

  1. Dimensional Stability (ASTM D6207-03): This test method determines the dimensional stability of fabrics intended for use on panel and screen systems to cycled changes in humidity and temperature. Fabrics like polyester, modacrylic, olefin, polyolefin, polypropylene, and blends are the most stable, while fabrics containing nylon, rayon, and silk are less likely to remain stable. An acrylic or latex backing will not stabilize an otherwise dimensionally unstable fabric.
  2. Acoustical Transparency: The ability of sound to pass through the fabric and enter the sound absorptive panel core. Fabrics with an open weave typically have good acoustical transparency. Fabrics with backing generally have poor acoustic transparency, and micro-perforation is often not a solution.
  3. Telegraphing: Refers to surface irregularities of the core or surface template telegraphing through the fabric. Malvicino Design Group® stretch applies all fabrics to minimize this effect, but each custom fabric must be tested. Certain light-colored fabrics may reveal the surface, in which case an acoustically transparent scrim is applied on the core before fabric application.
  4. Adhesive Compatibility: This refers to the ability of the adhesive used to bond to the fabric without bleeding through or discoloring the fabric.
  5. Miscellaneous: Certain fabrics may exhibit visible lines when stretch is applied over the panel face due to different light reflectivity. Humidity changes may cause fire retardant salts to precipitate and leave a white power mark.

Procedure for Custom Fabrics: Malvicino Design Group® must test all custom fabrics specified to determine suitability. At the order quotation stage, one linear yard of specified fabric is required for evaluation. Malvicino Design Group® cannot guarantee that selected fabrics will remain bubble-free or sag-free if testing reveals a specified fabric unsuitable. Note: Malvicino Design Group® cannot accept responsibility for products not used or installed to their specifications. Panels should be handled wearing clean, white gloves during installation.

MDG Wood Products are crafted to match the appearance of the most commonly available hard or soft woods, including both commercial and custom options. While stocked product samples are typically manufactured using common wood species, it's essential to note that no single product is available in all available species simultaneously. For specific availability, please consult your local sales representative or contact MDG corporate directly.
It's important to understand that the following examples are provided for general differentiation of wood species and should not be considered an absolute measure of how finished products will appear. Natural wood exhibits variations in tone and grain, adding to its unique character and charm. Therefore, while MDG strives for consistency, slight variations should be expected and celebrated as part of the natural beauty of wood products
